Get Safe Online Week 19 - 24 October 2015
One of the UK’s biggest online safety campaigns runs between 19 to 24 October 2015. The theme of this year’s Get Safe Online Week is “Online crime is always personal – Don’t be a target.”
The campaign is always a good time to think about what we do to keep ourselves, our finances and our devices safe online, but this year it encourages us to help others stay safe too.
We all know someone who’s vulnerable online. A family member, friend, neighbour or work colleague who could be encouraged to use social media or the internet more safely than they do right now.
So help others by joining in with Get Safe Online Week and use your social media savvy to help protect people against scammers who target them online. During the campaign spread as many positive messages about online safety as you can by:
- Sharing the campaign’s messages with your followers across all your social media accounts
- Introducing those messages into your online conversations at every opportunity
- Holding a coffee morning to talk about online safety
- Catching up with people on the phone and telling them about the campaign
The National Trading Standards eCrime Team works with Get Safe Online to keep you safe online, and we will be doing all we can to spread the word.
You can do your bit by keeping up-to-date with the latest news in the lead up to Get Safe Online Week by following both them and us on Twitter and Facebook and on www.getsafeonline.org and www.tradingstandardsecrime.org.uk. Post stories and advice about online safety on your website and social media accounts and link to both our website and Get Safe Online’s too.
